Have you ever wanted to be an author? An artist? A dreamer or believer?
How about just plain awesome?
Meet my Dad, Dave Ross. He's done it all. And with style. Just look at those ears.
He gave me those ears, along with my sense of humor and temperament. He gave me my sister, my best friend, and my brothers, two of the best men I have ever met.
My Dad is so proud of the fathers that they have become. And his grandchildren: Porter, Roanan and Maya give him endless happiness. Which makes sense: his whole life has been about making kids' lives better.
As a children's author, he has almost 50 books published, though he would tell you he could wallpaper a house with his rejection letters.
And as a speaker, he's constantly telling young wannabe authors that they can do it. This from the guy who's done it all. He hitchhiked across the United States, lived in a chicken coop and made people laugh with amazingly corny jokes.
But it's the moments that aren't so amazing that make him my Dad. He never missed a soccer game, escorted me to every father/daughter dance in New York state, and told anyone who would listen I deserved an Oscar for my 6th grade performance of Willy Wonka.
He's never let me down, and has spent his life building other people up. So while he's given me so many things, the best one is the gift of being my Dad. Happy Father's Day Dad. ... I guess I can forgive you for the ears.
