CLERMONT, Fla. -- Investigators in Lake County are working to determine what caused a paddleboarder to go underwater Saturday and never resurface.
Authorities said Ronald Sikorski, 28, of Orlando, was on Lake Minnehaha in Clermont when he screamed for help.
But officials said he had slipped underwater by the time Sikorski's friends reached him.
The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Lake County Sheriff's Office used boats, sonar and a helicopter to search for Sikorski, and they found his body three hours later. He was pronounced dead.
"I haven't seen anything like that since I was in Vietnam," resident Thomas Marsch said. "It's been a long time, so it's a real sad, sad feeling."
There's still no word on what caused Sikorski to disappear in the water.
