JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Cash Today Pawn located on Jammes Road was not open for business on Monday following a burglary attempt in the wee hours of the morning.
When JSO officers arrived at the scene, they found a 1994 white Dodge van crashed into the building's rear roll-up door. The report said the building was on fire.
"I guess guys got in and could not get back out, started a fire," said C. J. Matthews, who manages the store and got called to scene, finding the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Jacksonville Fire and rescue Department already there.
JFRD responded to the one-alarm fire and no one was injured. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. The report did not state if the van crashing into the building was the cause of the fire.
The driver-side window of the van was shattered and the steering column was broken. The van has not been reported stolen and JSO is working with the Clay County Sheriff's Office to find the registered owner.
The van has since been returned to its owners, a day care center just a few blocks away.
The report did not mention a suspect or description, however, reported the crime as a burglary not completed.
