JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man is behind bars after trying to steal the purse of a 64-year-old woman who fought back.
Cory Bowman, 33, has been charged with two felony counts of robbery, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office inmate information.
According to a post on JSO's Facebook page, Bowman drove past a 64-year-old woman standing with her purse on her shoulder near her car in the parking lot of Rowe's Supermarket at 5435 Blanding Boulevard.
Bowman got half-way out of the truck and allegedly tried to pull the woman's purse off of her shoulder. She told police she looked at Bowman and said "Oh hell no, (expletive)" and pulled back on her purse.
He drove off after almost being pulled out of the truck. After getting a tip from a teenage witness, police were able to locate Bowman at Catoma Street and Timuquana Road, according to the post.
After apprehending Bowman, police also found that he had pulled the purse off of a bicyclist on 105th Street.
Bowman was due to appear in court Monday at 1 p.m. and was not listed as eligible for bond.
