JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The mother of Kalil McCoy has filed a civil lawsuit against the people arrested in the death of her daughter.

McCoy was shot in the head and killed while riding in the car with four other people.

They are now facing charges for negligence resulting in wrongful death.
Frederick Wade was convicted and received a life sentence in McCoy's murder.

Three others named in the suit, Kennard Mahone, Alfred Mears, Jonathan Brooks, were arrested and charged with accessory to murder.

Pamela Vann, who is also named as a defendant in the suit, allowed Wade to use her Chevrolet Tahoe. Also, the gun that was used in the shooting of McCoy was owned by Vann, according to court documents.

Photos of the 20-year-old and her favorite color purple now decorate a portion of her family's dining room, set up as a shrine to the young woman taken too soon.

Paper clippings from June 20, 2011, the day she was killed, still sit on the table as the family struggles to cope with their loss.

"Just going to jail, just going to prison, it's not enough for me. That's not justice," said Lynnett Roebuck, Kalil's mother. "They're never going to forget about Kalil McCoy. I'm going to make them remember Kalil every day. Every day of their life, they're going to remember my daughter."
