MARINELAND, Fla. (AP) -- One of Florida's first marine mammal parks is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
Marineland Dolphin Adventure first opened in 1938 in a tiny beachside town about 15 miles north of Flagler Beach.
The Georgia Aquarium took over Marineland in 2011 amid the Florida attraction's financial woes. More than $3 million has been invested in Marineland since then.
Marineland General Manager Kurt Allen tells The Daytona Beach News-Journal that a series of new exhibits are planned, including holding areas for marine life that will be displayed at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.
Allen says Marineland routinely receives ticket stubs, photographs and other memorabilia that past visitors took home from the life shows that once made the attraction famous.
