PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- A prescribed burn will be conducted Monday in the middle of the Guana River Wildlife Management Area.

The burn, which will consist of 215 acres of pine flatwoods, is not expected to affect any homes or roads, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Public Information Coordinator Joy Hill.

Biologists are conducting the burn to burn off excess vegetation to reduce the risk of wildfires, Hill said.
