JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- First Coast News spoke to a local woman who unfortunately knows what it's
like to lose a child to violence.
whose 7-year-old daughter Somer was abducted and killed nearly four years ago,
met Cherish Perrywinkle's mother over the weekend.
Thompson said she
just wants to support her in this difficult time.
"My advice is basically a shoulder because everyone is
going to travel their own road and go through their own experience," she said. "I just want
her to know that there is obviously an outlet for her, someone close that she
could ask questions to or vent to but I'm more here just to let her know that
it is possible to make it through something so horrible."
Cherish went missing from Walmart on Lem Turner Road on Friday night. Her body was found Saturday morning at Highlands Baptist Church on Broward Road.
Donald Smith is currently in jail and is charged with her murder and kidnapping.
