KINGSLAND, Ga. -- Two separate tips from concerned citizens resulted in multiple drug arrests by the Kingsland Police Department.

According to a Kingsland Police Department press release, officers stopped two vehicles on July 12, one at 9:26 p.m. and another at 9:55 p.m.

The first incident was in response to a welfare check when a citizen was concerned that the driver of a white Ford Ranger truck was intoxicated. Police found the driver, Larry Malphrus III, 27, of Ridgeland, South Carolina, and a passenger Ashley Rae Warren, 26, of Bluffton, South Carolina, parked at a K-Mart in the Camden Woods Shopping Center.

According to the release, the officer requested assistance from the Kingsland Police K-9 Unit to search the vehicle. Police allegedly found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Malphrus and Warren were arrested and charged possession of marijuana less than 1oz, possession of drug related objects, possession of hydromorphone schedule II drug, possession of clonazepam schedule IV drug, and trafficking a schedule II controlled substance.

In a separate incident, KPD Officers were alerted to an intoxicated driver in a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser leaving the Green Cedar Truck Stop located at Exit 6. The release said the Officers saw the vehicle driving east on Laurel Island Parkway and stopped it for allegedly speeding.

The driver 57-year-old Michael Gene Laws of Dryden, Virginia, and passenger 22-year-old Samantha Mitchell of Kingsport, Tennessee, were in the vehicle.

Consent was allegedly given to the officers to search the vehicle. According to the report, police found multiple illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Laws received a speeding citation and both individuals were arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of MDMA, schedule II drug, possession of Alprazolam schedule IV drug, and possession of oxycodone schedule II drug.

All four suspects are at the Camden County Jail.
