STARKE, Fla. -- Campers staying at the Salvation Army Camp Keystone in Starke got a rude awakening - when a three-alarm fire erupted and destroyed their dining hall early this morning.
Authorities said a Bradford County Sheriff's deputy discovered the fire after smelling smoke about 2 a.m and called for help.
It took a joint force of firefighters from Bradford and Clay counties to douse the blaze.
None of about 375 people staying there was hurt.
The cause is not clear. The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
Though dismayed by the turn of events, officials say campers were in good spirits.
Counselors say they're setting up a field kitchen for next week's campers.
