ORLANDO, Fla. - A 21-year-old Mississippi man now faces a manslaughter charge after deputies said he gave his father the beating that led to the man's death in Orlando.
Taylor Harris was arrested today in Rankin County, Mississippi on Wednesday in connection with the death of Leonard "Dewayne" Harris, deputies said.
Earlier in the month, the Harris family was dining at the Dave and Busters restaurant on International Drive to celebrate Taylor Harris's 21st birthday. Investigators said Taylor Harris came across pictures on his father's Facebook profile that indicated he was having an affair.
Harris and his father left the restaurant and began to argue downstairs, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Taylor Harris said he punched his father in the face and then tried to help him, but he "freaked out" and went upstairs. He told his mother to go downstairs and check on his father.
The older Harris was rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center and later transferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he died a day later.
Taylor Harris already faced an aggravated battery charge in Orange County. He will be transported back to the Orange County Jail sometime next week, deputies said.
