ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Jermaine Kenneth Brown Jr., 22, was arrested Wednesday in connection with a shooting that took place Monday night.
Brown, an Orange Park resident, was arrested on a felony warrant for charges of robbery with a firearm and attempted murder.
The victim, a 19-year old male, was in his vehicle in the parking lot of the Moe's Restaurant in Julington Creek waiting for an alleged drug transaction when Brown entered the back seat and held a gun to the victim's head, according to a release from St. John's County Sheriff's Office Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw.
After Brown allegedly demanded everything the victim had, a struggle for the gun ensued, resulting in one shot being fired into the victim's chest, according to Kelshaw.
The suspect fled and the victim drove himself from the location in the 400 block of State Road 13 North to Baptist South hospital where he was taken by air ambulance to UF Health Hospital.
According to Kelshaw, an arrest warrant was then obtained for Brown and U.S. Marshal's tracked the suspect to an address in Jacksonville where he was taken into custody without incident.
He was booked into the Duval County Jail on the St. Johns County charges.
