Suspect sought in weekend shooting that injured two people

  • JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting at an Applebee's located at 6251 103rd Street.

    According to a JSO press release, officers found two people with gunshot wounds.

    The release detailed that Applebee's closed Sunday at 2 a.m. and a group of people continued to hang at the benches in front of the business.

    An unknown suspect approached the group and solicited money, as if he was panhandling, and one person gave the suspect $2. The release said the individual walked away and then turned around with a pistol in hand.

    The suspect allegedly demanded their wallets and phones. Individuals in the group said told the suspect they didn't have money.

    The release detailed that one person was shot in the chest after he stood up and another victim was shot in the chin while sitting on the bench.

    The suspect fled on foot and the victims were transported to a local hospital in non-life threatening condition.

    Video surveillance shows photos of the alleged suspect, who is described as a black man in his early 20s with short dreadlocks. JSO is looking for a late 90s or early 2000 model sedan that is gold or tan with tinted windows and a broken trunk that prevents it from closing. The vehicle could a Buick LeSabre, the release detailed.
