St. Johns County Sheriff's Office seeking 2 women in Gap purse theft

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in locating two women allegedly connected with a purse theft at the Gap outlet store.

The theft happened on August 8 around 4:15 p.m., according to a release from SJSO Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw.

The victim's purse was underneath the stroller, which her husband was pushing through the baby clothing section. On surveillance video, one woman can be seen distracting the husband while the other woman takes the purse.

An iPhone and $16 in cash was removed from the purse, which was found abandoned on one of the racks in the store.

The woman who allegedly distracted the husband was wearing a dark cap, a black sweater and a white print dress. The woman who allegedly took the purse was wearing sneakers, a white blouse and blue pants.
