OVIEDO, Fla. -- A guidance counselor at Carillon Elementary School was suspended with pay following abuse allegations.
Investigators say she allegedly dragged and dropped a 5-year-old boy.
According to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, the counselor "grabbed him by the chin, twisted him and ultimately dropped him on the ground." The report also states officers found a nickel-sized abrasion on the boy's left elbow.
Bobby Fishbough, a parent of a first-grader at the school, said the school hasn't notified parents.
"The safety of our child is the utmost priority here," Fishbough said. "I trust the safety of our kids in these school systems and I'm sure they do a good job, but when you see something like this, it raises the question."
He said he learned of the abuse investigation through the grapevine and said his daughter was supposed to be in the counselor's class.
"This is a public school. Parents need to know what's happening in our schools," he said. "This is not a situation where the school needs to be hush hush. As parents, we need to know what's taking place here."
The woman has not been arrested, and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
