Life Saving Corps lifeguards on duty at Jax Beach.
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- Monday is one of the busiest days of the year for lifeguards and Jacksonville Beach has been prepping for the last holiday weekend of the summer.
Life Saving Corps lifeguards are in full force on the beach and have extra personnel back at the lifeguard station in case of emergencies.
Beach conditions have been favorable for swimmers. The yellow flag at the lifeguard station means condition are mild and not too rough.
Lifeguards still urge families to keep an eye on their children and make sure to stay close to shore due to rip currents. There were over 30 lifeguards on the beach ready to assist any swimmer in distress Monday.
"Every lifeguard that is serving us right now has gone through a 12 week rigorous recruit class. They train each and every Sunday from 8 a.m. to about 8 p.m. going through their first aid training, CPR, as well as their physical training in the pool, in the ocean" said Lieutenant Richard Ghiotto, Life Saving Corps.
