Body found miles away from Ponce De Leon Inlet

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. -- A body was recovered 30-miles east of Ponce De Leon Inlet in New Smyrna Beach, Florida who fits the description of the man who went missing on Monday, according to the United States Coast Guard.

A group of private divers escorted by the Coast Guard recovered the body at approximately 12:54 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Coast Guardsmen was able to bring the body aboard their 45-foot Response Boat and transport it to the Station Ponce De Leon Inlet to be met by a medical examiner.

The body is believed to be 28-year-old Ryan Myers of Maitland, Florida. However, the Coast Guard cannot confirm who the body is until a medical examiner makes a positive identity.

Once the identity of the man has been confirmed, First Coast News will update this story.
