JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- A school was placed on lockdown early Tuesday morning as a precaution after an alleged robbery in Jacksonville Beach.
Jacksonville Beach Police Department Sgt. Tommy Crumley said the robbery took place in the Sneakers parking lot, which is located at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Oceanfront Drive North.
The suspect was described in a JBPD press release as a black man wearing a Halloween type mask, khaki pants and a white T-shirt. The suspect allegedly was armed with a handgun and demanded the victim's wallet.
The victim handed the wallet to the suspect, who then ran from the area in the direction of some area schools. Police alerted St. Paul's Catholic Church and School, which was placed lockdown for approximately 50 minutes.
Crumley said officers have not caught the suspect at this time and the victim did not suffer any injuries.
