Tivauris Latrey Weathington
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A teen arrested for his alleged role in a robbery and carjacking late Friday night has been identified by police.
Tivauris Latrey Weathington, 17, is facing charges of armed robbery and theft of a motor vehicle, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrest report.
Just after 9:30 p.m. Friday, police were called to the 3200 block of Mayflower Street in reference to a carjacking. The victim told police that after parking her car, she was approached by three male teens, two of whom had guns drawn.
The third teen, whom the victim later identified as Weathington, took the car keys and all three teens got in the vehicle and fled.
Officer B.A. Hudson, who was on patrol in the 1300 block of Cassat Avenue, heard the suspect and vehicle description over the police scanner and then saw the same vehicle pass by him.
Hudson pursued the vehicle to the 1300 block of Lake Shore Boulevard, where Weathington got out of the vehicle after crashing it and fled on foot. The other two teens were no longer in the car, and this is still being investigated by JSO, according to Public Information Officer Shannon Hartley.
Weathington was taken into custody with the assistance of a K9 officer. The victim was later able to identify Weathington as one of the teens who robbed her and took her vehicle.
