PONTE VEDRA, Fla. - Jacksonville Fire and Rescue and the United States Coast Guard (USCG) responded to a shrimp boat taking on water off the coast of Ponte Vedra.
The 88-foot shrimp boat was two miles east of Ponte Vedra when it began taking on water, according to the USCG.
A USCG boat and helicopter crews responded as rescue for four people aboard the Sea King shrimp boat.
A Coast Guard boatcrew aboard a 45-foot response boat - medium from Station Mayport in Atlantic Beach, Fla., is continuing to escort the Sea King in to a Mayport port.
The Sea King crew alerted the USCG of the incident at 6:12 a.m., reporting their boat was taking on water and in danger of sinking.
A USCG boatcrew from Station Mayport in Atlantic Beach, Fla., and a helicopter crew from Air Station Savannah, Ga. responded.
The Sea King is expected to arrive in Mayport Tuesday afternoon. The identities of the fishermen are currently unknown.
