LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- A woman whose husband was shot and killed by Lawrenceville police has filed suit against the officers involved.
Tenisha Felio told WSB-TV that she filed suit because her husband didn't deserve to die when she made a 911 call to police to report that her husband had been abusing her.
The officers responding to the call in December 2010, Christopher Hyatt and Karl Hydrick, said 27-year-old James Felio was shot after trying to get one officer's gun. Tenisha Felio says her husband was not a threat and there was no need to shoot.
An attorney representing the officers and the Lawrenceville Police Department, Brian Dempsey, says a thorough investigation determined the shooting was justified.
Felio's attorney, James Dearing, says the officers could have used their batons or pepper spray.
