JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A suspect has been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run death of a 14-year-old bicyclist.

The incident happened at 12:51 a.m. on August 23. According to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office press release the victim, Dquan Armstrong, was riding a bike in the 9100 block of Sibbald Road when the suspect, Lucious Hester, allegedly struck him.

Hester, 52, was allegedly driving faster than the speed limit at the time of the crash. The bicycle broke into several pieces and the suspect drove away without calling for help.

Hester went to a residence where he removed his shirt and the glass from his body. He allegedly told the owner of the vehicle that he would replace the windshield. The release said Hester left the home when the owner called the police.

The release said before he left, Hester changed his shirt and left the bloody one from the crash at the home.

When Hester arrived at another home, he called the police.

The police conducted a blood kit where DNA on the shirt Hester was wearing during the crash, which matched Armstrong.

JSO checked the suspect's driver's license, which says it was suspended for failure to pay on 03-01-11, 07-11-11 and 10-10-11 as well as failure to appear 06-02-11 and 09-12-11.

Hester is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death and driving while license suspended.
