LAKE CITY, Fla. -- Deputies arrested a woman for allegedly committing prescription fraud at a
doctor's office where she was employed, according to the Lake City Police
Fletcher worked for Dr. Fanney for seven years and after an investigation,
police discovered that Fletcher had been having fraudulent prescriptions filled
since September 1, 2011. The prescriptions obtained were for oxycodone,
hydrocodone, and adderall.
The investigation was initiated after CVS Pharmacy reported to Dr. Fanney that
Fletcher filed a 'suspicious' prescription with his signature. Dr. Fanney
requested additional information and discovered that Fletcher had prescriptions
filled at both CVS locations in Lake City.
In addition, investigators discovered that Fletcher had fraudulently billed all
prescriptions to her insurance.
Police issued a warrant on Fletcher for 43 counts of prescription fraud, 43
counts of insurance fraud, 23 counts of theft and 25 counts of forgery of a
signature on a prescription.
Sheriff Lamb of the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office who was working with
LCPD's Criminal Investigation Division located and arrested Fletcher for the
Fletcher is being held in Columbia County with a $215,000 bond.
