JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Update: The victim has been identified as 17-year-old Malk Sunwabeh.
A teen hit twice by a vehicle outside Wolfson High School has died, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
A 17-year-old girl was driving in the 3900 block of Toledo Road behind Wolfson High School when she allegedly struck a pedestrian, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The victim is a 16-year-old male who was attempting to cross the street when he was struck. No other details about the victim were available.
The driver panicked and did not stop when she allegedly struck the victim. Subsequently, a Sawyer Gas truck traveling behind the 16-year-old driver also struck the victim who was in the roadway.
The victim was transported to UF Health Jacksonville in life threatening condition and underwent surgery early this morning.
The 17-year-old driver eventually returned to the scene of the crash and was interviewed by detectives.
An investigation is underway and police are also interviewing witnesses.
At this time there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved.
