STARKE, Fla. -- A man posing as a Bradford County building inspector tried to enter a home by showing fake credentials Tuesday, according to authorities.
The man, approximately 40-45 years of age wearing a green "polo" shirt and blue jeans, approached a home on North Thompson Street around 10:30 a.m. and showed Bradford Courthouse credentials.
According to the Starke Police Department, the man approached a female resident and said he worked for Code Enforcement.
The identification card had his picture, "Bradford Courthouse" printed type, yellow shading and additional writing. He asked to enter the residence to conduct a building inspection, according to SPD.
When the female resident asked for the man's name and a number, he refused and left the property.
The man was further described by the woman as having "salt and pepper" hair and facial hair around 6'0'' with a stocky build.
No vehicle description was available, according to SPD.
A check with inspector officers in the area indicated that they had no representatives visiting the address Tuesday.
Police ask that anyone seeing a man that matches this description call (904) 966-6161.
