JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man was killed after his motorcycle struck a railroad crossing gate Wednesday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Steven Powers Gott, 47, was traveling east on Zoo Parkway around 9:10 a.m.
The railroad crossing gates just west of Parker Avenue were down but Gott, a Jacksonville resident, failed to stop.
His black 2014 Triumph motorcycle struck the gates, causing him to be ejected, according to FHP.
He was later pronounced dead at UF Health.
According to FHP, the crash was not alcohol related.
