COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- After a vehicle pursuit Thursday by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, a juvenile was arrested.
At about 10:30 p.m., deputies spotted the vehicle that was reported stolen and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, who is 15 years old, didn't stop for police and swerved in front of the police cars to allegedly prevent their attempts of driving alongside the suspect.
In a CCSO press release, the suspect jumped from the vehicle near the Cedar Park Apartments and ran. The suspect allegedly forced himself into a home with children and a woman in it.
The suspect jumped out of a bedroom window and ran into a wooded area, the release said. Columbia County Sheriff's Office Corporal Matt Grinstead arrived owith K9 Perry, who located and apprehended him in the woods.
The release says, the suspect was treated for minor injuries at Shand's at Lake Shore. Once treated, the suspect was transported to Columbia County Detention Facility.
The suspect is at the Juvenile detention facility in Gainesville and charged with resisting and officer, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, burglary, possession of burglary tools, reckless driving, vehicle theft, assault and criminal mischief.
The release said the suspect has an extensive criminal history, including armed robbery.
