Traffic stop leads to an arrest for outstanding warrants

PALATKA, Fla. -- The Putnam County Sheriff's Office arrest a man for outstanding warrants during a traffic stop.

On October 31 at about 9 a.m., Sergeant Daniel Taylor and Deputy Spencer Reinert stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Main Street for allegedly failing to dim the vehicle's bright lights. While at the vehicle, the officers discovered the passenger, Marcus Shorter, had several outstanding warrants.

The officers arrested Shorter, 31, and held at the county jail without bond. While in jail, officers allegedly found Shorter in possession of a plastic baggie containing crack cocaine.

Shorter is charged with possession of cannabis under 20 grams, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and smuggling contraband into a correctional facility.

  • Three criminal traffic violations'
  • Resisting officer without violence
  • Possession of cannabis
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
