(NBC LATINO) -- Police officer Ann Carrizales was shot twice, including once in the
face and once in her bullet-proof vest, during a routine traffic stop.
However, instead of giving up and allowing her fellow cops to pursue the
suspects who shot her, Carrizales shot out their back window and then
chased them in her squad car for 20 miles until they were caught.
Carrizales told NBC News' Janet Shamlian, "You can't shoot me and drive away. It's not allowed."
The mother of two, who is an amateur boxer and was named "Top Cop" by
her fellow officers, said she had no regrets and would do it again if
she had to.
"It wasn't an option for me to give up," said Carrizales. "I will do everything I can to come home to my children."
