Alexander Addison III, 25
PALATKA, Fla. -- A man has been arrested by the Palatka Police Department for allegedly attempting to snatch a purse from a 74-year-old woman while she was loading groceries in her vehicle, according to a PPD press release.
Thursday at about 2:30 p.m., while facing away from the cart a suspect drove up, got out of the vehicle and allegedly attempted to take her purse, which was secured in the shopping cart by a strap. When trying to take the purse, the cart was dragged with it.
The suspect left the cart and while driving away the victim got the suspect's license plate number.
PPD Officer Todd Bryant spotted and stopped the vehicle near St. Johns Avenue and Palm Avenue. The driver was identified Alexander Addison III, 25.
According to a PPD news release, Addison matched the description of the suspect given by witnesses and the vehicle and tag matched that given by the victim and witnesses.
Addison was arrested and charged with robbery by sudden snatching. He was booked into the Putnam County Jail.
