LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A 13-year-old Columbia County boy led a deputy on a car chase that ended with a crash early Saturday morning, according to authorities.
The boy was driving a Toyota SUV northbound on South West Pinemount Road with a Columbia County sheriff's patrol car in pursuit.
Two other teens, 14 and 13 years old, were also inside the vehicle.
As the SUV approached the intersection with highway U.S. 90, FHP officials said Chambers drove through a red light and collided with a Toyota Tundra.
The driver of the Tundra, Jeremy Boyette, 43 and his passenger, Heather Lee Boyett, 35, both of Lake City, were transported to Shands hospital in Lake City where they were treated for minor injuries, the FHP report said.
Both vehicles sustained major damage, the report said.
All three teens in the SUV were identified as runaways from Clay County, the FHP said. None of the teens were injured but they were all arrested.
