ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A family was tied up and terrorized overnight in their Orange County home.
Deputies said a group of masked men broke into the home in the Highland Oaks subdivision off Hiawassee Road just after midnight.
"The family was safe at home, peacefully sleeping and heard a loud crash at the front door," said Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Melvin Roomes.
The husband, wife and their two children were locked inside a bedroom as the four men, one of which was wearing a Batman mask, searched their home.
"They ransacked the house, asked for some cash, asked for some dope," said Roomes.
However, detectives said they found none because they were in the wrong home.
The group made off with iPads and other personal belongings.
"The family complied and had no injuries," said Roomes. "Just some electronic equipment and the wife's purse was taken."
Deputies said after the intruders left, the family was able to untie themselves and call for help.
Detectives said the subdivision is not gated, but is relatively safe and that they do not get a lot of crime-related calls to the area.
