FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- The Amelia Island Youth Soccer League took a kick in the wallet as investigators found the organization was embezzled out of $60,000.
Fernandina Beach Police arrested Ronee Malama who handled cash for the soccer league. She is currently being held in the Nassau County Jail with bail set at $75,002.
"Over 500 children affected as far as registration fees," said Captain Jim Norman.
He says hundreds of hours were spent pouring over more than 1,000 pages of bank and business statements.
Norman says Malama was investigated and arrested on another theft case earlier this year. The woman's employer found checks in her desk belong to the Amelia Island Youth Soccer League.
No one from the organization could be reached for comment on Monday.
