KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an incident involving a driver hitting a deputy Monday.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office deputy was flagging commuters for driving violations on West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway south of North Poinciana Boulevard in Kissimmee around 1:14 p.m. when a driver hit a deputy, said Kim Montes, FHP spokeswoman,
The deputy was flagging 22-year-old Krystal Velazquez Diaz of Kissimmee when 36-year-old Natalie Romaniello, coming from behind, didn't stop, hit Diaz's 2005 Toyota, which was in front of her 2012 Nissan, Montes said.
After hitting the car, FHP says Romaniello drove over the curb and hit 47-year-old Paul Spears, a Sheriff's Office deputy.
Spears was taken to Celebration Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Romaniello was ticketed for careless driving, FHP said.
