ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The brother of actor and comedian Bill Murray was arrested for driving under the influence after he was seen driving though front yards in World Golf Village early Wednesday morning.
According to a St. Johns County Sheriff's Office police report, John Collins Murray, 55, was spotted by a security officer driving his 2000 Oldsmobile Aurora though yards in the St. Andrews neighborhood of the World Golf Village around 1 a.m.
Fearing for the safety of the residents, the security officer followed the car and called police.
When deputies arrived Murray's car was stopped in the middle of Island Green Drive and he was slumped over the steering wheel with the engine running, according to the offense report.
Once a deputy yelled through the window to wake Murray, he made a staggering exit from the vehicle with blood-shot eyes and smelling of alcohol, according to SJCSO.
During the interview Murray reportedly told Officer A.P Lapkovitch, "I was trying to get away from you," and "I'm not a bad guy, I just want a cigarette and for you to take me home."
Murray refused to perform a field sobriety test, but submitted to a breath test. The test showed a 0.222 BAC, according to the report.
Murray was taken to St. Johns County Jail and charged with DUI.
John Murray is part of a group including Bill, Brian, Joel, Andy and Ed Murray that opened the Murray Bros. Caddyshack restaurant located in World Golf Village.
