MIAMI (AP) -- A champion French bulldog and 15 puppies have been safely returned home.
Marcelo Cicuta told The Miami Herald the dogs were returned early Saturday and in good health.
Twenty-nine-year-old Vigil "Shaggy" Birch has been charged with 16 counts of grand theft and dealing in stolen property.
The dogs were stolen from Cicuta's Miami home while he and his mother attended a New Year's Eve party.
The puppies were all under a month old and in need of their mothers, which the thief did not take. A police report put their value at $30,000 total. The champion French bulldog named "El Che" was valued at $50,000, though Cicuta said those figures were not accurate. He declined to provide a value.
