Marcus Earl Gray, 44, was arrested Monday for the murder of 38-year-old Latasha Denise Joyce, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police said, Joyce and Gray was involved in a physical and verbal altercation January 10 in the Tri-Star Trucking lot located in the 3500 block of Rio Grande Avenue.
The couple was sitting inside Gray's semi-tractor when Gray admitted to pushing Joyce out of the passenger side door causing her to fall on the ground and land on her back.
Gray told police he drove away in his tractor and later returned to find Joyce unresponsive. He said he then placed Joyce in the tractor and drove her to his house. He then placed her in another vehicle and drove her to UF Health.
According to police, the autopsy reported revealed that Joyce had suffered multiple internal injuries that are consistent with being hit by a motor vehicle. Gray denied hitting Joyce with his vehicle during the interview.
Following the investigation of the crime scene and video surveillance, JSO discovered that only Gray's vehicle was seen arriving and leaving lot during the time of the murder.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a suspicious death early Friday morning.
The incident occurred near the intersection of North Edgewood Avenue and New Kings Road in the Royal Terrace area of the Northwest side.
According to police, an unidentified man brought 38-year-old Latasha Joyce to UF Health Jacksonville who was suffering from an apparent trauma. Homicide investigators determined Joyce and the unidentified male had been involved in a physical altercation, according to JSO. Joyce later died at the hospital.
Joyce's death is under investigation and foul play is suspected at this time.
