JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- If you happen to have a Forbes magazine at home or you pass by one on the newsstand, pick it up and turn to page 92. There, you will see the name of a woman with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
At 28, Megha Parekh is already making quite a name for herself. She is the vice president and general counsel for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"I am responsible for all legal, contractual compliance drafting and all of our sponsorship agreements and things like that. I also head up HR," told Parekh.
She began working for the Jags last March. Prior to that, she worked at a law firm and was on the board of directors of Women in Sports and Events. Parekh said it was one of her fellow board members that nominated her to Forbes and shortly after that she got a phone call.
"The editor at Forbes asked me for a headshot, so then I had to have a friend of mine take the picture in my office at the time because I didn't have one," laughed Parekh.
She had no idea she had been nominated to be on Forbes "30 Under 30" list in 2013 and didn't know she had made the list again this year in the 2014 issue until she got an email from a friend who saw her name in the magazine.
"So lots of text messages and Facebook posts and my parents were super excited and very sweet," said Parekh.
She is also a graduate of Harvard Law School and said success often comes down to two things: hard work and a little patience.
"It is not all luck. Working hard really helps put you in the right position and opportunities, especially in sports, are few and far between. You have to be patient and wait for the right one to come along and in that time keep on working hard and making as many connections as you can," told Parekh.
Parekh added she loves working with the Jacksonville Jaguars organization and plans on staying for a long time. A big congratulations to her for making Forbes "30 Under 30" list!
