MACCLENNY, Fla. -- The Baker County Sheriff's Office ruled out an alleged attempted child abduction Friday night. Investigators determined the man was well-known in the area and was just selling peanuts out of his truck when the girl got scared and ran off.
An 11-year-old girl was in her front yard near the intersection of South 5th Street and South Boulevard. She told police she saw a white pickup truck parked across the street that she didn't recognize.
The Baker County Sheriff's Office investigated the case for more than six hours before determining it was not an attempted abduction.
