JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Transportation began a project to improve a stretch of New Kings Road and Dunn Avenue.

Construction crews will resurface 1.8 miles on New Kings Road from Interstate 295 to Dunn Avenue. They will also resurface 2.1 miles on Dunn Avenue from the intersection of New Kings Road to just west of I-295.

Also included in the project will be improvements to the drainage systems, roadway shoulders and turn lanes.

FDOT said the cost of the project is $4.1 million. It is expected to be finished in the summer of 2013.

There will be no lane closures allowed during morning and evening rush hours, FDOT said.
